Punctuation Practice

 

            Print out these punctuation marks onto paper or cardstock. Cut them into flash cards.

 

            Give them to your child. When you read aloud and come to one of these punctuation symbols, pause. Look up at your child to cue him or her that it's time to hold up the card with the punctuation mark that should go there.

 

            Then let your child read aloud to YOU.

 

            Another game: print out two sets of these cards. Now converse with your child. Each of you should hold up the punctuation marks that fit what you are saying.
